The 0-3 Indianapolis Colts travel down to Miami for a Week 4 matchup against the 1-2 Miami Dolphins in a game that changes the season for the winning team.

In the NFL, Week 4 often represents a turning point for how a team’s season is going to fare.

3-0 is a healthy start, one that a majority teams capitalize on for a wintry playoff berth. According to NBC Sports, since the 1970 NFL merger, 75.8 percent of all teams that started 3-0 went on to make the postseason. That amounts to 175 of 231 teams, but unfortunately, only five teams hold that record so far — and the Colts and Dolphins don’t make the cut.

The 1-2 Dolphins would be 0-3 if not for a last-minute edge in Week 1 over the New England Patriots, a team in rebuild mode with rookie quarterback Mac Jones. Week 2 saw a 35-0 blowout with AFC East enemy the Buffalo Bills, then a heartbreaking overtime loss against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 3. If the Dolphins want a shot at an AFC Wild Card slot, Week 4 would be the time to bounce back — and the Colts would be the perfect team to trounce.

It was the Colts, not the Dolphins, who made the Wild Card round last year, but a chance at the post-season is already looking unlikely for the Indianapolis team. Here’s the opposite end of that 3-0 stat: only six out of 182 teams that started 0-3 have made playoffs since 1980.

That being said, if the Colts can turn things around for a historic season, now would be the time — only the 1992 Chargers have been able to pull of an 0-4 playoff run.
