4. Dele Alli can’t thrive under Nuno

Dele’s struggles to find his best form absolutely pre-date Nuno’s arrival, but there were signs of life for the precocious English midfielder early in his Portuguese manager’s tenure. However, the fact that Dele’s been entirely frozen out of the starting XI in recent weeks is another reason why Nuno should be on his way out the door.

The simple truth is that Dele was showing signs of life when given a chance to work in the club’s new 4-3-3 setup. Suddenly, Spurs fans started to see his trademark late runs into the box on a semi-regular basis once again. The club’s debacle at Arsenal led to a formation switch to a 4-2-3-1 setup that left Dele as the odd man out.

There’s no reason he shouldn’t be given a chance further up the pitch to make his mark on the team. It’s not as if Tottenham are scoring goals at a prodigious clip in recent weeks. Dele couldn’t really slow the attack down more than Nuno’s already done on his own.

Dele may never regain the form that made him a fan favorite immediately upon his arrival at Tottenham, but there’s still an above-average Premier League starter in there somewhere. Nuno’s inability to find that player is a big reason why he should be looking for work elsewhere.
