T.J. Watt will become the NFL sacks leader

The contract extension of T.J. Watt was the NFL’s hottest talking point in the weeks before Week 1. It was absurd at the time, but even more so now as Watt continues to prove that he is the heartbeat of this team. He sacked Justin Fields three times in the Monday night win, while also batting down a pass in the final seconds to prevent the Bears from getting into better field goal position.

The All-Pro out of Wisconsin currently sits a half of a sack behind Browns star pass rusher Myles Garrett for the league lead. Keep in mind, Watt has played in about two fewer games after leaving in the first quarter against the Raiders and missing the following week against the Bengals.

It’s not just Watt that the Lions will have to worry about, though. Cam Heyward is having the best season of his career on the interior, and Alex Highsmith has adapted to his starting role opposite of Watt quite well.

While Detroit is getting Taylor Decker back, Frank Ragnow is on IR and the Lions offensive line is 22nd in the NFL in sack percentage. The Steelers will be swarming at every angle, and Trent Jordan Watt will be leading the charge.
