Week 11 is in the books, and if teams had taken care of business, well, this wouldn’t be college football in 2021. Now that the dust has settled, let’s look at the AP Top 25.

The nice thing about the AP Poll, flawed as it is, is that it is much more a process of elimination than the CFP Committee’s rankings. Oklahoma looked like a very flawed team, but one that managed to pull out wins (which is more than can be said for, say, Texas). Now that Baylor took it to them, you can feel the Sooners mmm drop.

The Buckeyes and Bearcats, both of which rolled this weekend, have to be elated. The fewer undefeated teams help the two Ohio squads in a crowded mess seeking to be Georgia’s main contenders, the better. The way Ohio State is playing right now (e.g., dropping another 50+ points on Purdue), they might actually be able to put pressure of Georgia’s defense (and thereby the Bulldog offense) in a way we haven’t seen this year.

Elsewhere teams are falling off like rocket boosters from a space shuttle. Texas A&M’s dark horse bid at the SEC West ended with their loss to Ole Miss. Auburn is done after getting Leached. Wake Forest put some space between themselves and the ACC Atlantic (although a three-way tie is still possible).

Here is the Week 12 AP Top 25.

  12. Oklahoma
  13. Wake Forest
  14. BYU
  15. UTSA

  19. Wisconsin
  20. Pittsburgh
  21. Arkansas

That’s got to sting for Cincinnati, but as long as they stay undefeated, they’ll be in the conversation. Other than that, it’s just noise.

Our one remaining little guy (Cincy doesn’t count anymore) bright spot is the UTSA Roadrunners, who have a huge game against UAB this week. Birds Up, gang.
