Chase Young was helped off the field by the Washington Football Team training staff during their game against the Buccanneers.

During the second quarter of the game between the Washington Football Team and Tampa Bay Buccanneers, Chase Young hit the ground in obvious pain. When the play stopped, the training staff arrived and began working on his leg, while the fans at FedEx Field looked on in stunned silence.

After a few minutes, the cart was called to the field to help get Young to the locker room. However, after Young was helped to his feet, he waved off the cart and chose to walk to the locker room with the assistance of the training staff. The Football Team fans in attendance roared in appreciation and admiration of Young.

Chase Young likely suffered a season-ending injury

The early indications and fears within the Washington Football Team organization are that Young suffered a torn ACL, which is obviously a season-ending injury. The recovery and rehabilitation for that injury are also quite long and intense, but with almost 10 months to go until next season, perhaps he’s ready to go by Week 1.

The second-overall pick in the 2020 draft, Chase Young has changed the Washington defense for the better. In 2020, the defense ranked in the top 10 of almost every significant defensive statistic, and for that effort, Young was awarded the Defensive Rookie of the Year award.

The Football Team’s optimism for the playoffs is winding down, due to the success of the Dallas Cowboys, but the loss of Young will likely finish off those hopes and have management looking towards 2022.
