NL MVP voting complete results: Bryce Harper wins MVP

The votes are in from the Baseball Writers Association of America, and Bryce Harper of the Philadelphia Phillies has been named NL MVP.

MLB awards week has reached its conclusion on Thursday night, with the main event featuring the MVP awards competitions. The American League was set in stone with Shohei Ohtani expected to win, but the National League was a bit of a wide open competition between Bryce Harper, Juan Soto and Fernando Tatis Jr.

The Baseball Writers Association of America have revealed their voting results, and the Philadelphia Phillies outfielder has emerged victorious. With this, Harper now has two NL MVP awards in his trophy case, as he won his first back in 2015 as a member of the Washington Nationals.

NL MVP complete voting results: Harper wins second NL MVP of his career

Harper led the way by securing 17 first-place votes, nine second-place votes and two third place votes. He received a grand total of 348 points.

Soto, star outfielder of the Washington Nationals, received six first-place, 11 second-place and seven third-place tallies from the writers. Tatis, San Diego Padres shortstop, earned two first-place, five second-place and 15 third-place votes.

The other players to receive first-place votes were San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford (four) and Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Trea Turner (one).

Harper is coming off a 2021 campaign where he led the National League in slugging-percentage (.615), OPS (1.044) and doubles (42). Overall, the outfielder recorded a .309 batting average, a .429 on-base percentage, 35 home runs, 84 RBI and 151 hits through 141 games.
