2021 bowl projections for Michigan football have Jim Harbaugh’s Wolverines heading to the Rose Bowl to take on the Oregon Ducks.

After Ohio State trampled Michigan State, the Michigan Wolverines needed to do their part against Maryland to set up an epic matchup for their annual rivalry game.

The Wolverines downed Maryland without too much trouble. Now they can look forward to what could be when the postseason comes around.

A New Years Six Bowl should be the minimum target, but more could be on the line.

Michigan bowl projections have the Wolverines in the Rose Bowl

Michigan will finish out the regular season against Ohio State with a place in the Big Ten title game up for grabs. Even though they aren’t projected to win the conference, they are still expected to land in a premiere bowl.

CBS Sports, USA Today and Sporting News all agree that the Wolverines will occupy the place reserved for the Big Ten in the Rose Bowl. That’s because Ohio State is expected to head to the playoff.

Even with a loss to the Buckeyes, Michigan would likely remain the second-highest ranked Big Ten team over Michigan State and Iowa. A Hawkeye victory in the title game would complicate things though.

Of course, that’s not the only scenario in play. If Michigan beats Ohio State, they could head to the Big Ten title game. And if they win that game, they would almost certainly end up with an invite to one of the semifinal playoff games.

At this stage, the Rose Bowl looks like a minimum result for John Harbaugh and company. If Oregon doesn’t make the playoff, they’ll meet Michigan in the Rose Bowl.

They control their own destiny. The playoff is a few wins away.
