Jorge Soler

Jorge Soler is another former Cub the team could bring back, this one for a cheap, short deal with potentially big results.

Soler absolutely dominated the postseason for the Braves, adding another championship ring his trophy case along with the one he won with Chicago.

His power is utterly undeniable but with Atlanta, he proved he can be disciplined at this stage in his career as well.

As a full-time designated hitter, his defensive deficiencies wouldn’t be in play. He could just put that power to good use at the plate. And there would be plenty to unload.

Soler should be well within the price range Hoyer is looking at. He’s familiar with Chicago and he’s tailormade for the DH spot.

There would be somewhat of a risk attached knowing his propensity for striking out at times in his career. Still, the move would make a ton of sense with the payoff at the other end being so big.

According to reports, the Cubs have met with representatives for Soler, so this could happen.
