Florida football fans might have to gear up for one more game before this season finally ends.

Though it has been a long and frustrating year for Florida football fans, the Gators got to 6-6 on the year and have achieved bowl eligibility.

This crucial sixth win came at home over the in-state rival Florida State Seminoles. While there was no presenting sponsor for this year’s Sunshine Showdown, this was the de facto Bowl Eligibility Bowl being played out for all the world to see in Gainesville. Though Florida State would have loved to have played in a bowl game, the Gators decided it was not their day in the sun.

Even if this upcoming bowl game is not all that appetizing, where could the Gators be heading to?

Florida bowl projections: Gators vs. Tulsa in Gasparilla Bowl

Brett McMurphy of The Action Network had Florida State playing the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in the 2021 Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on Dec. 23.

However, with Florida beating the Seminoles, this feels like a good bowl to slot the Gators into this holiday season.

As far as their opponent, Tulsa will have to win on Saturday afternoon over the SMU Mustangs to achieve bowl eligibility at 6-6. While the Mustangs have been the better team over them this season, keep in mind that head coach Sonny Dykes is leaving Dallas for a more high-profile job across the way at TCU in Forth Worth. Maybe the Golden Hurricane have one more fight in them?

While the Gasparilla Bowl is in Tampa, Florida may just want the lost 2021 season to end already.
