With Oklahoma State earning a huge Bedlam Series win, here is how they can make the College Football Playoff.

The Bedlam Series has rarely gone in the Oklahoma State Cowboys’ favor, as evidenced by the Oklahoma Sooners’ 90 victories in 115 meetings. That, and the Cowboys have gone on a six-game losing streak to the Sooners. That all changed on Saturday, as Oklahoma State picked up a clutch 37-33 victory over Oklahoma.

With this huge in-state win in the books, does Oklahoma State stand a chance of making the College Football Playoff? We take a look at their odds of doing so.

How Oklahoma State can make the College Football Playoff

There is a path, albeit a lengthy one.

The Cowboys already earned a quality win over the Sooners to eliminate them from Playoff contention. They now move on to face the Baylor Bears in the Big 12 championship game next weekend. Oklahoma State would obviously need to win this game to have a chance of making the Playoff.

Then, Oklahoma State will need to keep an eye on the SEC title game. Their odds of earning a playoff berth only increase if the Alabama Crimson Tide were to lose to the undefeated Georgia Bulldogs.

What’s next, you ask? Well, the Cowboys would need to hope and pray that the College Football Playoff committee gained some respect for them over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. In the latest rankings, Notre Dame was listed one spot ahead of Oklahoma State.

Finally, and this is a long shot, the Cowboys will need to bank on the Michigan Wolverines, who earned a huge victory over the Ohio State Buckeyes this weekend, losing to the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Big 10 championship game.

The next week is going to be telling for the Cowboys, especially with the latest College Football Playoff rankings set to be revealed this Tuesday.
