The second game for Manchester United has been postponed due to COVID, as the Red Devils won’t be taking the field on Saturday to take on Brighton.

While Manchester United has won three of its last four games in all competitions, fans are going to have to wait a little while to see them back on the pitch. On Tuesday, the team was supposed to take on Brentford, but that was pushed back due to COVID concerns.

Now, United was getting ready to host Brighton this weekend. Well, that’s also not going to happen, as the club announced on Thursday that match has been postponed as well.

Manchester United is dealing with a COVID breakout right now

Earlier this week, The Telegraph over in the UK reported that 19 positive cases had been recorded by the club. Goodness me, that’s rough news and now it makes complete and total sense that these two games haven’t been played by the club. The last thing anyone wants is for COVID to spread.

It’s not just Manchester United that is dealing with games being moved around, though, as four more contests have already been taken off the books.

Unfortunately, the new COVID variant is continuing to spread. Cases are rising again and players are testing positive left and right. In order to try and put a halt to things, the English Premier League isn’t wasting any time in not having guys take the pitch.

The hope is that things will start to slow down again. This is rough for the EPL, as these postponements are coming in the heart of the season. The title race is heating up, with Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea standing at the top ready to battle it out the rest of the way.

For Manchester United, they’re on the outside looking in for the Top 4, but they’ll be ready to keep capturing key points to make that happen. We’ll have to wait a little longer for the team to try and record its next big win.
