Marcus Stroman was shouting out Cubs fans who got the pitcher’s jersey for Christmas but decided to make one special fan’s wish come true.

Pitcher Marcus Stroman is a man of the people, particularly on social media. And the newest Chicago Cubs pitcher was feeling the love from the Windy City on Christmas Day.

Fans were tweeting at the former Mets pitcher and showing him their new Cubs Stroman jerseys that Santa had left under the tree on Sunday morning.

It was cool enough that Stroman was retweeting and commenting on many of them, clearly feeling the love from the city of Chicago where he’s going to reside once the MLB lockout subsides.

However, there was one fan who was lamenting the fact that he didn’t get a Stroman jersey. He said he was stuck at work and pretending he got one while having a piece of paper taped to his chest.

Marcus Stroman promises Cubs fan a jersey

In a truly awesome move in the spirit of Christmas, the pitcher decided to remedy that by promising the fan that he’d be in touch to get him a jersey.

Stroman has always been an easy fan favorite wherever he’s been with a personality that is hard not to be endeared by. Moments like this one, though, make him even more likable as he’s clearly in the spirit of giving that Christmas is often associated with.

Let’s hope we get a follow-up sometime soon of this fan getting his wish and getting to rock a Stroman jersey and not just a piece of paper.

[Update]: The fan reached out on Twitter to say Stroman has already contacted him about the gift.

Truly an awesome gesture from the newest Cubs hurler.
