Here is a COVID update regarding the Georgia football team as the Dawgs arrived in Miami ahead of the Cotton Bowl on Friday vs. Michigan.

With the omicron variant having a massive impact across the United States during the holiday season, the Georgia football team arrived in Miami on Sunday afternoon ahead of their College Football Playoff vs. Michigan on Friday night.

Seth Emerson of The Athletic made a few astute observations when the Dawgs got off the bus on Sunday. Though backup quarterback JT Daniels was not present, other major players such as Stetson Bennett, James Cook, Jordan Davis, Nolan Smith, Jamaree Salyer and the rest of the offensive line were present. Most players coming off the three team busses were wearing masks.

It appears that Georgia only has a small number of COVID cases and multiple busses arriving at the team hotel signify the Dawgs are in good shape to take on Michigan on Friday night in their national semifinals game.

College Football Playoff: Georgia football team well represented down in Miami

Though Georgia has not disclosed what players have COVID, Daniels is the biggest name to be linked to the virus. While wide receiver George Pickens initially tested positive, that proved to be a false positive. With the new COVID-19 contingency plans surrounding the College Football Playoff, you better believe all four teams playing will do whatever it takes get these games played.

The winner of the Orange Bowl between No. 2 Michigan and No. 3 Georgia will face the winner of No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 4 Cincinnati in Indianapolis on Jan. 10. Though the College Football Playoff said forfeitures could be implemented if Alabama, Cincinnati, Georgia or Michigan cannot field enough players to play, it would be an absolute travesty if that is how a champion is crowned.

No. 3 Georgia takes on No. 2 Michigan in the Capital One Orange Bowl at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida on Friday, Dec. 31 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
