The College Football National Championship Game opening odds are set for the rematch between Alabama and Georgia with the Bulldogs slightly favored.

Leading up to the College Football Playoff semifinals, the SEC was getting dragged for their bowl game records. That may have been true in the lesser games but, in the Cotton Bowl and Orange Bowl, the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs reigned supreme and left no doubt as the elite programs set up an SEC Championship Game rematch in the National Championship Game.

As we all know, Alabama was a 6.5-point underdog to Georgia in the first meeting between the SEC giants. That, however, was left in the dust as the Crimson Tide blew past the Bulldogs in emphatic fashion.

But now, after Kirby Smart’s team blasted Michigan and Nick Saban’s crew rolled over Cincinnati with dominant wins, the tides have turned looking at the National Championship Game odds and the opening lines for the game — but not as much as you might think.

National Championship Game odds: Georgia opens as 2.5-point favorites over Alabama

Given the way that the Crimson Tide dominated the SEC title game, it’s no surprise that the odds have moved in their favor. However, it is a bit shocking that the Bulldogs still opened as 2.5-point favorites given the way the first matchup played out, via WynnBet.

Though Georgia is the favorite, it will be highly interesting to see what adjustments are made. It was clear in the Orange Bowl that the Bulldogs had tightened up against top-tier competition, but it remains to be seen if they can do the same against the likes of Bryce Young and Jameson Williams for Alabama, who torched them in the SEC Championship Game.
