Klay Thompson is set to make his return to the Golden State Warriors on Sunday, and he’s channeling his inner Bill Murray from Space Jam.

After over two years, the Golden State Warriors are set to have Klay Thompson return to their starting lineup. Thompson had been out since Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals where he tore his ACL, where he then ruptured his Achilles heading into the 2020-21 season. But, he is on his way back.

On Saturday, Thompson announced his return on Instagram, where he said he’s going to pull up to Chase Center on Sunday dressed up like Bill Murray at the end of Space Jam.

“Perhaps I could be of some assistance,” Thompson, probably.

The expectation was that Thompson could return for Golden State at some point this season, with ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski noting that it could be at some point in January. Now, it is confirmed that he will return in front of Warriors fans on Sunday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Thompson tore his ACL while making a contested dunk against the Toronto Raptors. Despite the injury, the Warriors signed him to a five-year, $189.9 million contract that offseason, expecting him to return for the 2020-21 campaign. That never came to fruition, as it was confirmed that he ruptured his Achilles on the night of the 2020 NBA Draft, officially knocking him out for the entirety of last season.

In his last full season (2018-19), Thompson averaged 21.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists while shooting 46.7-percent from the field and 40.2-percent from the three-point line.

After two long years, Thompson will be on the court for the Warriors.
