Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady is set up to break Drew Brees’ NFL record for completions in a season thanks to the 17th game.

Tom Brady already owns plenty of NFL records, though the 44-year-old may keep playing in the pros until he has each and every one of them.

In the final week of the regular season, Brady looks all but guaranteed to grab another one.

The Buccaneers QB enters Week 18 with 456 pass completions. He’s just 16 completions away from breaking Drew Brees’ single-season record of 471.

Tom Brady can break another Drew Brees record

Brees set the record in 2016, breaking his own previous record of 468 completions during the 2011 season. The Saints legend also owns the third-best single-season completion mark with 456 in 2014.

Brady has already tied for third place and it would be pretty shocking if he didn’t run away with the record with the NFL introducing the 17th game to the regular season.

This season, Brady is averaging 28.5 completions per game. His season-low for completions is 18. He just has to do what he’s done each week and he’ll easily add the record to his resumé.

He already owns the record for completions, passing yards and passing touchdowns in a career, adding distance between himself and Brees in second place for each of those categories with every game he plays.

Brees still has Brady beat in passes completed per game with 24.9 and 24.6 respectively. Don’t put it past Brady to overtake that one as well. Brees can at least add an asterisk to Brady’s single-season marks since he now gets an extra game to do it.
