Michael Irvin puts the onus on Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliot and CeeDee Lamb for the Cowboys season coming to an unceremonious end.

Forget the final play of the Dallas Cowboys’ disappointing season-ending 23-17 loss to San Francisco. Yes, Dak Prescott needed to get down earlier and/or the play call should have been anything else besides the bizarre quarterback draw that Mike McCarthy is still defending to someone somewhere.

The game was lost well before even the fourth quarter, maybe even before the game started, according to former Cowboy great Michael Irvin who didn’t like the body language he was seeing as the game started to unfold.

“I was looking into the eyes of some of those guys and I was like, wow, this looks like this is engulfing them, this is overwhelming them,” Irvin told FanSided. “They came out of it as the game went on but it was too late when they came out of it. It shocked me that I saw that look on their face and I saw hunger, desire, stick-to-itiveness and togetherness in the eyes of the 49ers.”

Many have pointed the blame finger at Cowboy’s head coach Mike McCarthy begging for a coaching change. Irvin’s focus is primarily elsewhere.

According to Michael Irvin, there is plenty of blame to go around for the Cowboys

“You look around last week every team you look at the stars of the team showed up and played,” Irvin said. “You can’t win in this game if your stars don’t show up and play. Whenever you have a disorder it’s going to bring about a dysfunction and they had a disorder in that game Sunday. They had the star players playing like role players and they tried to make a few role players, (Dalton) Schultz and (Cedrick) Wilson, play like stars. That was a disorder that brought about a dysfunction. and that’s why they got their butts sitting at home on this couch.”

Prescott finished with a 69 passer rating, Ezekiel Elliot has only 31 rushing yards on 12 carries, CeeDee Lamb only one reception for 21 yards on five targets.

Meanwhile, Irvin is not set on McCarthy sticking around for a third season, but he is also not quite sure a coaching change is in the Cowboy’s best interest.

“I’m looking around because like anybody and anything else I am always looking for better,” Irvin said. “That is the name of this business. I don’t know that I would get rid of Mike McCarthy unless I know I got something better coming in. I love Brian Flores. I thought he did a great job in Miami. I don’t know that I would trade out Mike McCarthy for Brian Flores.”
