With the NFL season winding down and college football already over, casual fans are starting to hop in as conference play heats up, making their observations about the nation’s top teams ahead of March Madness.

The clear trend over the past few weeks has been the emergence of Gonzaga and Auburn as the nation’s top teams, but who will top this week’s college basketball rankings? Read on to find out, but first, let’s take a look at the teams that just missed the cut in the honorable mentions.

Week 12 College Basketball Rankings: Honorable Mentions

Wisconsin, Villanova, Kentucky, Texas Tech, USC

Both Wisconsin and Villanova were in the Top 10 last week but fell out thanks to home losses. It wouldn’t be shocking to see either rejoin the top tier in the future.

Kentucky acquitted itself well against Auburn but faded late, preventing their inclusion in the Top 10, while USC hasn’t played the type of schedule worthy of reaching the next page yet. The closest call was Texas Tech, which has ripped off a string of impressive wins, but the Red Raiders were beaten out by an in-state rival.
