Ryan Hall secures a decision win at UFC Sacramento when he tops Darren Elkins on the scorecards.

Ryan Hall defeated Darren Elkins via unanimous decision (30-27 x3) at UFC Sacramento on Saturday, July 13, 2019, live from the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, CA.

“Darren’s super tough,” Hall said after the fight. “When I dropped him in the first, I was going to use the guillotine to get to something else. It had a bit more bite than I thought, so I stuck with it. I think with about 10 more seconds in the round, it would have been game over. Darren’s just tough as nails. Getting him out of there is not easy.”

Here’s how the whole fight played out.

ROUND 1

Elkins starts off by trying to corner Hall, but Hall is a hard guy to figure out and quickly goes for a hell hook, but fails at his first attempt. Hall throws a spinning kick, but falls down to the mat. Elkins isn’t able to capitalize on the mistake and Hall is back on his feet. Hall does not stop his kicking attacks aiming for the head of Elkins and again attempting the heel hook.

Watching Hall attempting numerous heel hooks would’ve ca off as bizarre to any casual MMA fan. Hall continues his awkward attack and eventually lands a hard spinning wheel kick that drops Elkins and drops him as the crowd erupts. The clean kick was not strong enough to finish Elkins, so Hall goes for a choke but doesn’t get a good grab. The ref stops both fighters after an eye poke by Hall, but right when the fight resumes Hall lands another spinning wheel kick that stuns Elkins.

ROUND 2

Ryan Hall starts off with another heel hook attempt and Elkins is finally able to land a solid punch that backs up Hall. Both men trade shots now. Hall stuns Elkins again with a hard punch and lands another hard punch on Elkins that leaves him spaghetti legged.

Elkins is still not done and charges Hall with punches, but is still feeling the damage from Hall. Right under two minutes Hall is measuring and Elkins and setting him up for the finish.  Elkins starts backing up now with the attempted holds that Hall is shooting for. Hall goes for another heel hook and nearly catches a nasty head kick from Elkins. Hall drops Elkins again and both men get busy on the floor.

FanSided scores the round 10-9 Hall, 20-18  Hall overall.

ROUND 3

Nothing has changed in Hall’s game plan. He sticking to his lethal spinning kicks and heel hook attempts. The action is a step down from the first two rounds. Hall knows that he’s up in the scorecards, so it’s mainly been Hall defending himself from Elkins.

Elkins is throwing hard shots but just hasn’t had any luck landing anything to set him up for the win. Hall is now running around the Octagon as Elkins chases him down. Elkins lands a hard kick to Hall’s chest. Hall is able to survive any late round antics by Elkins and the fight goes the distance.

FanSided scores the round 10-9 Hall, 30-27 Hall overall.

Hall now moves on to an eight-fight winning streak, but 4-0 in the UFC.

Elkins came into this fight on a two-fight losing skid and drops his third straight loss.
