The Las Vegas Raiders need to show a strong commitment towards winning if Derek Carr wants to keep playing quarterback for them.

According to David Carr of the NFL Network, the Las Vegas Raiders need to make a firm investment towards winning to keep his younger brother Derek Carr around long-term.

The former No. 1 overall pick by the Houston Texans appeared on The Herd With Colin Cowherd earlier this week in an attempt to clear up some things regarding the future for the Silver and Black. While he did mention his younger brother would love to play with his college teammate Davante Adams again, the Carrs clearly need to see the Raiders step up their game and win more.

Derek Carr would love to keep on playing for the Raiders, but he is at a point in his career where he does not have to tolerate the perpetual chaos that is often associated with Mark Davis’ football team.

The younger Carr brother is coming off his first NFL playoff game. While the Raiders did not beat the Cincinnati Bengals, that game can down to the wire in the Queen City. Cincinnati is playing for the right to go to the Super Bowl this weekend. Though the older Carr brother said the Raiders are close, he knows the Raiders cannot be nearly as chaotic as they were last year, at the very least.

When asked by Cowherd what Carr likes about interim head coach Rich Bisaccia, it is a combination of trust and familiarity. Though the Raiders could potentially get a better candidate over the career special teams coach, major changes to the staff will significantly impact this team. If defensive coordinator Gus Bradley is one-and-done, then the defense could potentially suffer.

Overall, the older Carr brother did not clear up any of the murkiness surrounding the Raiders starting quarterback and what he wants to do. The younger Carr brother would probably love nothing more than to bring a Super Bowl championship to Las Vegas, but he now is on the wrong side of 30 and has played on two playoff teams in his eight-year NFL career out of Fresno State.

The most important thing the Raiders can do is make better hires over Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock for their next head coach and general manager.
