Adrian Peterson, a longtime NFL running back, has reportedly been arrested on domestic violence charges, according to TMZ.

According to a report from TMZ, Adrian Peterson has been arrested. Peterson, 36, was reportedly arrested for domestic violence charges.

Peterson was apparently arrested at Los Angeles International Airport “after airport police got a call at about 8:30 a.m. over a disturbance on an aircraft” that was attempting to depart from the airport and intended to head to Houston, according to TMZ.

In the report, TMZ noted a source indicated how the plane had to return to LAX following an “apparent verbal and physical altercation” that involved two people, “a man and a woman.”

The plane was reportedly able to leave on time with the woman on the plane.

In an update in TMZ’s report on the situation, a representative responded to a request for a statement.

According to the statement, Peterson and his wife got into an argument on a plane. As a result, Peterson was removed from the plane, according to the statement. In the statement, the representative told TMZ that this was the result of a “private misunderstanding between husband and wife.”

It was reported by TMZ that a source indicated that Peterson would be “released from custody soon.”

Peterson, who was most recently with the Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans, has been in the NFL since he was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in 2007. In total, Peterson has played for seven different NFL teams, including the Seahawks, Titans, and Vikings. Prior to the NFL, Peterson played his college career for the Oklahoma Sooners.
