The Maple Leafs have had an outstanding season but can they make a run in the playoffs? Here are 5 moves to ensure playoff success.

The Leafs haven’t been to the second round since 2004 and the team looks poised to end that streak this year. Young stars Mitch Marner and Auston Mathews are ready to bring a championship to Toronto but they will need some help to fend off some of the powerhouses in the east.

Consistency will be important for Toronto, who sits at third in the Atlantic Division. It is vital the team makes a splash before the deadline to fortify this impressive roster.

NHL Trade Rumors: 5 Targets Toronto Maple Leafs should pursue

5. Mark Giordano – Defenseman, Seattle Kraken

Mark Giordano is an ideal fit as a rental defenseman for the Toronto Maple Leafs. The 38-year has put together an extremely successful season given the team he’s playing for and would make an immediate impact for the Leafs. Giordano is on pace to put together his best offensive season since 2019 and his most physical season since 2018.

Giordano has also been an impressive shot blocker with 91 blocked shots in just 48 games. The longtime Calgary defenseman is a very technical defender who could control the puck and kickstart Toronto’s special teams unit. The asking price will be high but nowhere near the level of other popular targets such Klingberg or Chiarot.
