With his latest press conference, new Raiders head coach didn’t give fans much optimism that things with Derek Carr’s extension will get figured out soon.

As great as the offseason has been for the Las Vegas Raiders, there’s still plenty of questions surrounding the future of quarterback Derek Carr. Carr and the front office haven’t been able to get on the same page in extension talks, which is concerning.

If you ask new head coach Josh McDaniels, he wants Carr for the long haul. However, his latest quote also makes it seem like nothing will be finalized in the near future.

No one knows if the Raiders and Derek Carr will finalize an extension

For McDaniels, the two sides need to meet in the middle. With such high price tags for signal-callers, Carr is going to want to be paid top dollar. However, should he receive the kind of money that the top quarterbacks in the league are getting? There’s mixed emotions about that, but Raiders fans want to see things get done soon.

The Raiders made plenty of headlines earlier this month when they pulled off the blockbuster deal to not only trade for Davante Adams, but also give him a massive new deal too. Adams will be reunited with Carr, as the two played college ball together at Fresno State.

Carr is fired up to have his old friend back on the gridiron with him, but he’s also eyeing a handsome new deal of his own. Carr is about to enter the final season of his five-year, $125 million contact. With him being an unrestricted free agent next offseason, the last thing Las Vegas will want is for him to leave town and ink elsewhere. To prevent that from happening, they’ll need to figure things out here soon.
