With superstar safety Tyrann Mathieu still out in free agency, a potential move by the Pittsburgh Steelers would be huge.

Former Kansas City Chiefs standout Tyrann Mathieu remains unsigned, but it feels like only a matter of time before something gets done. Mathieu has been linked to multiple teams, including the Ravens and Steelers.

When it comes to Pittsburgh, the idea of Mathieu and Minkah Fitzpatrick being in the same secondary has fans excited. According to Pat McAfee, it’s looking like the Steelers are ready to try and make this happen.

Pittsburgh signing Tyrann Mathieu would be a major get

Interestingly enough, Mathieu recently said he got a call from Mike Tomlin. Tomlin is a legend in Pittsburgh and the fanbase has his back. If he and the Steelers are able to bring in Mathieu over the other suitors, the team’s supporters would understandably be pumped up.

For the Steelers, there’s going to be a completely new feel for this team starting this fall. Ben Roethlisberger has hung up his cleats, while Juju Smith-Schuster is getting ready to suit up for the Kansas City Chiefs.

It’s up in the air who will run the offense for this team in 2022, though Mitchell Trubisky figures to get a shot at winning the job after signing his two-year deal with the team. Defensively, though, Pittsburgh is stacked, as Fitzpatrick and T.J. Watt headline things.

Adding a presence like Mathieu would only make life even more rough for opposing offenses. Matheiu, a three-time First Team All Pro, is coming off another big year for KC in 2021: he posted 76 tackles and three fumble recoveries. Steelers fans will be waiting patiently to see if Pittsburgh signs him or not.
