Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry should be good to go for the first round of the NBA playoffs with his foot injury healing quickly enough.

The Warriors had to finish out the regular season without Stephen Curry for the final 12 games.

Fortunately, they won’t have to begin the postseason without him.

The star guard is expected to play in Game 1 against the Nuggets, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Stephen Curry injury update: Warriors star won’t miss playoff games

“Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry (foot) is on track to make his return in Game 1 vs. Nuggets on Saturday as long as he clears team’s scrimmage today without issues,” Charania reported on Thursday with Anthony Slater.

There may still be a need for a minutes restriction for Curry as he makes his way back but having him on the floor at all will be a welcome development.

Curry injured his foot against the Celtics on Mar. 16. Golden State went 6-6 without him, struggling in his immediate absence before rallying for a five-game winning streak to end the season.

With the 3-seed in hand, Curry’s return will give the Warriors their best chance of getting off on the right foot against Denver.

Curry has averaged 23.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists against the Nuggets in his career. Though his stat line against Golden State’s first-round opponent this season has been solid —averaging 27.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists in three meetings — his team lost two of the three in which he played. The Nuggets bring a 1-3 series advantage into the postseason.

This is the first playoffs for the Warriors since they lost in the NBA Finals to the Raptors in 2019. With Curry and Klay Thompson back healthy, they’ll look to make up for lost time.
