Jalen Reagor wipes Instagram clean of Eagles references after A.J. Brown trade

Jalen Reagor may not be for long with the Philadelphia Eagles after the A.J. Brown trade.

Shortly after the Philadelphia Eagles traded for wide receiver A.J. Brown in a draft-day deal with the Tennessee Titans, former first-round pick Jalen Reagor scrubbed his Instagram account.

It has been a rough go of it for the former TCU star. He was selected one pick ahead of Justin Jefferson in the 2020 NFL Draft. While Reagor has struggled to stand out in Philadelphia, Jefferson has emerged as an undisputed top-five wide receiver in the NFL after his first two years with the Minnesota Vikings. Now that Brown is coming to the Eagles, Reagor may need to find a new team.

With Brown expected to be the Eagles’ new No. 1 and 2020 Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith really starting to come along, it is understandable for Reagor to be upset over this move.

This is the harsh reality of professional sports. Only two years ago was Reagor seen as a potential franchise cornerstone in the Eagles’ receiving corps. Now, there is very little chance he gets to play out the rest of his rookie contract in front of the Philadelphia faithful. This is not like the Arizona Cardinals drafting Kyler Murray the year after Josh Rosen, but Reagor is clearly being erased here.

Reagor may only be 23 years old, but as Mark Hoppus once sang to us, “nobody likes you when you’re 23.” Though he is not the enemy of the state or any gross derivative of that, Reagor looks to be the latest first-round failure in Philadelphia, joining the likes of the incredibly relatable Carson Wentz and the simply delightful Ben Simmons. Scrubbing his Instagram is just par for the course.

Ultimately, a change of scenery will do Reagor a world of good. A coaching regime change and a swapping of starting signal-callers have left him in the dust and unable to take flight. The former Big 12 star has a chance to salvage his NFL career. However, he is certainly on the path towards being the next Josh Doctson coming out of TCU. It’s a hard knock life for these Horned Frogs, right?
