5. Best games on the 2022 NFL schedule – Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos

One of the AFC West’s best rivalries has always been Chiefs-Broncos since the franchises cannot stand each other. This feud that dates back to the founding of the AFL ratcheted up a notch when the Broncos acquired Wilson from the Seahawks, giving them an elite quarterback capable of going toe-to-toe with Patrick Mahomes.

The addition of Wilson also ensures that the Broncos and Chiefs are both going to be good at the same time, something that hasn’t happened too often over the course of NFL history. Each team has also won a Super Bowl in the last decade, with Denver hoisting the Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl 50 while Kansas City did the same in Super Bowl 54, so they narrowly missed jousting with each other for AFC West supremacy.

It also is hard to believe that Mahomes and Wilson have played just once prior to this season as a result of the NFL’s scheduling system that guarantees teams in opposite conferences play just once every four years. That last meeting came back in 2018 and was a thriller as Wilson’s Seahawks outlasted Mahomes’ Chiefs 38-31 in Seattle.

The Mahomes-Wilson showdown at Arrowhead Stadium will also be fun but the intensity will be greater in Denver, where the Broncos have a distinct home-field advantage they will look to re-establish against the Chiefs. Kansas City has won seven straight times at Empower Field dating back to 2015, a run the Broncos would love to snap with a win in this one.
