We’ve done it. It’s the 2022 NFL Schedule Release, and below are the picks and predictions for all 285 games right through Super Bowl LVII.
A new season is upon us.
Free agency is over. The 2022 NFL Draft is finished. The preseason? Done.
We know the rosters for the 32 teams, and we know their path to Super Bowl LVII.
This year is unique in a variety of ways. We’ve seemingly moved past the COVID era. Additionally, the offseason brought an unparalleled amount of change at the quarterback position, with Matt Ryan, Deshaun Watson, Russell Wilson, Carson Wentz and others moving around.
Now, it’s my time-honored here at FanSided to pick every regular-season game and then roll through the Super Bowl, predicting who will hoist the Lombardi Trophy come February.

Game of the Week: Buffalo Bills at Los Angeles Rams
Preview of Super Bowl LVII on opening night? Quite possible.
Buffalo hasn’t reached Super Sunday since 1993, but the Bills are favorites to win the Lombardi Trophy for the first time in their hoister. Of course, the Rams know the feeling, having hoisted it in their own building last February after beating the Cincinnati Bengals.
For the Bills, it’s a nice litmus test to see where they are at this point in the campaign. Buffalo is loaded up on both sides of the ball, including Von Miller, who will return to Los Angeles and see some old friends. Miller signed a six-year deal worth $120 million in the offseason, stunning most around the league with his departure. The Rams didn’t replace him, hoping their remaining stars can pick up his proverbial slack.
As for Los Angeles, this might be the toughest home game on what is a brutal docket, including tilts with the San Francisco 49ers, Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders and Dallas Cowboys. With a victory here, the Rams would strengthen their position in the tough NFC West, albeit with a non-conference win.
Finally, if you love strong-armed quarterbacks, watching Matthew Stafford and Josh Allen indoors is the game for you.

Game of the Week: Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs
This stands to be one of the year’s best games. Last season, the Chiefs visited the Chargers on Thursday Night Football in Week 15 and authored an instant classic, with Kansas City winning the game — and essentially the AFC West — in overtime. This time around, it’s once again Justin Herbert and Patrick Mahomes, but at Arrowhead Stadium.
For the Chargers, it’s an opportunity to prove all their offseason moves have paid off. Los Angeles has annually enjoyed the preseason hype train but failed to deliver, not reaching the AFC Championship Game since Philip Rivers played on a torn ACL against the New England Patriots in 2007. Herbert has been magical in his first two seasons, but he’s yet to reach the postseason while Mahomes has gone to the conference title game in each of his four years as a starter.
Speaking of Mahomes, a win here goes a long way towards helping his Chiefs win a seventh straight AFC West crown. Yes, it’s only Week 2 and both the Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders are improved, but the Chargers stand to be the toughest competition. By beating Los Angeles early on, it immediately puts the Chargers in a trail position.

Game of the Week: Green Bay Packers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Packers and Buccaneers are easily two of the top three teams in the NFC, and they’ll match up down at Raymond James Stadium. Green Bay is trying to get the conference’s top seed for the third time in as many seasons, and beating the Buccaneers would go a long way in securing such a lofty goal.
For the Packers, it’s never been difficult getting to the playoffs, but doing something significant once there has been a chronic problem over the past decade. Two years ago, Green Bay rolled to the NFC title game and then fell short against Tampa Bay despite Tom Brady throwing three interceptions in the second half.
While this game will be highlighted — and billed — as a matchup between Brady and Aaron Rodgers, the real battle will take place in the trenches. Tampa Bay has an injury-riddled offensive line, along with the retirement of Ali Marpet this offseason. The Packers will try to move the 45-year-old Brady off his spot with a combination of edge rusher Preston Smith, and defensive tackle Kenny Clark and rookie Devonte Wyatt.

Game of the Week: Kansas City Chiefs at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
A rematch of Super Bowl LV, the Chiefs and Buccaneers meet in the same stadium, albeit this time with just a bit less on the line. Incredibly, this is the sixth matchup between Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes, with Brady winning three of them and both of the postseason contests.
While this isn’t going to determine many races considering its an interconference battle, it should give us a nice idea of how the two teams match up in what could be a Super Bowl preview. Brady and Mahomes both have terrific offensive lines in front of them and enough weaponry to score 30+ points in a given game. Tampa Bay has the better defense, although Kansas City has a slew of young talent on said side of the ball, while the Bucs are proven but aging.
One matchup to watch will be Kansas City’s offensive line against Tampa Bay’s pass rush. In the Super Bowl two years ago, the Bucs destroyed the Chiefs’ front and eventually, Mahomes. But with Creed Humphrey, Joe Thuney, Trey Smith and Orlando Brown Jr. up front, Tampa Bay will have a tougher time creating pressure and the turnovers that come with it.

Game of the Week: Los Angeles Chargers at Cleveland Browns
Maybe under the radar compared to some of the other big-time games on the slate, but the Browns and Chargers are two of the more intriguing AFC teams.
Los Angeles has loaded up this offseason, adding a slew of talent defensively including corners J.C. Jackson and Bryce Callahan, linebacker Kyle Van Noy, defensive tackle Sebastian Austin-Day and edge rusher Khalil Mack. The Chargers looked tough last year but fell apart down the stretch, losing games to the Houston Texans and Las Vegas Raiders over the final four weeks. With this infusion of talent, Los Angeles should be far more dangerous.
For the Browns, they’re still waiting on Deshaun Watson. While the weapons are essentially receiver Amari Cooper, and running backs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, Cleveland will need a ball-control attack while Jacoby Brissett is under center. Winning a game like this against another quality AFC team would be a big step towards getting back into the postseason and making some noise.

Game of the Week: Buffalo Bills at Kansas City Chiefs
If you polled most fans, this is the game of the year. Buffalo and Kansas City gave us an all-time, instant classic in the AFC Divisionals last season, forever to be known as 13 Seconds.
Coming into the year, Buffalo is the lone favorite to win Super Bowl LVII, having loaded up on defense with Von Miller coming off the edge. The Bills, though, need to prove their can get past Kansas City, who has ended their season each of the last two years at Arrowhead. However, Buffalo did break through against the Chiefs during the regular season in 2021, pummeling them in Week 5 on Sunday Night Football.
In an odd way, this is the rare game with both teams having plenty to prove. After years of being the obvious favorite in the AFC, Kansas City is now being grouped into the mix, with some believing it won’t make the postseason. The Chiefs have undergone a significant facelift this offseason, trading receiver Tyreek Hill and allowing safety Tyrann Mathieu to leave in free agency. If they beat Buffalo, it would appear Kansas City isn’t only a contender, but perhaps the favorite once more.
Also, the winner might very well host the rematch in January.

Bye weeks: Bills, Rams, Vikings, Eagles
Game of the Week: New Orleans Saints at Arizona Cardinals
This game won’t make anybody change vacation plans, but it could be instructive on who makes the playoffs.
Last year, Arizona stormed out of the gates, being the last undefeated team in the league. However, for the second consecutive year, the Cardinals stumbled down the stretch and while they made the postseason, they were a one-and-done wild card team. Kyler Murray, looking for a lucrative extension, needs to have the best year of his young career.
In New Orleans, it was a year of injuries. The Saints played a slew of games without quarterback Jameis Winston and all of them sans star receiver Michael Thomas. While winning the NFC South over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers isn’t likely, a wild card berth is viable for a team with Winston, Thomas, Alvin Kamara, rookie receiver Chris Olave and a good offensive line.
The winner of this game will have a nice tiebreaker in its satchel as the season draws to a close, either for seeding or perhaps to get into the playoffs. The loser drops a key game and will have to make the difference up elsewhere if at all.

Week 8

Game of the Week: Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns
The ultimate rivalry. Why you ask? Paul Brown founded both teams, with the Bengals coming in the mid-1960s after Cleveland owner Art Modell fired Brown. Today, it’s Paul’s son Mike Brown running the show, and he’s starting to see real progress from his young team.
After reaching the Super Bowl last year by way of a stunning run, Cincinnati improved this offseason. The offensive line got reinforcements and the defense is one of the more underrated units in the league, led by edge rushers Trey Hendrickson and Sam Hubbard, linebacker Logan Wilson and safety Jessie Bates.
In Cleveland, it’ll soon be a new team following the blockbuster trade for quarterback Deshaun Watson. Watson cost the Browns three first-round picks and won’t play until Week 13. Until then, it’s Jacoby Brissett. Can he do enough to give Cleveland a chance of winning against Joe Burrow and Co?
The AFC North is one of the toughest divisions in the league, with the Baltimore Ravens also being a contender for the top spot. If Cincinnati can sweep Cleveland, it’s a major road towards a home playoff game or two.

Game of the Week: Los Angeles Rams at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
A rematch of one of the greatest fourth-quarter comebacks to fall short. The Buccaneers and Rams are the last two Super Bowl champs, with the latter eliminating the former in their own building last year. Now, both stand as top contenders to once again win it all.
After decades of believing a team needed to be built through the draft, both Tampa Bay and Los Angeles have gone different routes. Each brought in a star quarterback either by free agency or trade, and each has found a litany of contributors through those avenues at other positions as well.
With Tom Brady , he’s entering the season as the oldest quarterback in the game since George Balnda was 45 years old in 1975 for the Oakland Raiders. However, Blanda was mostly a reserve and a kicker by this point of his career. Brady is anything but, leading the NFL with better than 5,300 passing yards last season. He figures to be great again, surrounded by weapons such as Chris Godwin, Mike Evans and Russell Gage on the outside.
If Tampa Bay is going to make another Super Bowl run, taking down the defending champs would be a big step towards securing a first-round bye.

Week 10

Byes: Jets, Ravens, Bengals, Patriots
Game of the Week: Dallas Cowboys at Green Bay Packers
This was one of the early-announcement games, and for good reason. The Packers and Cowboys are two of the biggest national draws in the sport, and Green Bay fans are going to be thrilled to see Mike McCarthy make his return to Lambeau Field.
Sometimes, the NFL gets it wrong by playing a real marquee game between a pair of top-10 teams in the first couple of weeks. This is a perfect time, with the weather beginning to get nasty in Green Bay, but not enough to completely neutralize the offensive talent on the field.
The Packers come into the season as NFC North favorites, but not without some concern. The defense looks terrific, but the offense is essentially Aaron Rodgers, a very good running game and no receivers in their primes with any proven ability.
For Dallas, it’s an offense with Dak Prescott at the controls, and the duo of CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup on the outside. The defense should also be tough with Trevon Diggs on the back end, while Demarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons force the issue up front. However, the losses of edge rusher Randy Gregory and receiver Amari Cooper must be accounted for.
Should be a fun one up in Lambeau.

Week 11

Game of the Week: Las Vegas Raiders at Denver Broncos
Despite the two teams sharing a division for more than 60 years dating back to their American Football League days, the Raiders and Broncos have seldom been good at the same time. This year could be one of those moments, with both squads projected to fight for the playoffs and in some corners, even the AFC West itself.
Denver is reborn with the addition of Russell Wilson, who should only elevate the games of receivers Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy. Against the Raiders’ lackluster secondary, expect a ton of points to be scored, and for those into fantasy football, a big day.
Yet the Raiders might be able to match, even against Denver’s considerable defense. Las Vegas went for broke this offseason, adding receiver Davante Adams to a unit already featuring slot receiver Hunter Renfrow and tight end Darren Waller. The defense also got a boost with the upgrade from Yannick Ngakoue to Chandler Jones on the edge opposite Maxx Crosby, who earned a nine-figure extension this offseason.
With the AFC West being so competitive, winners of these divisional games are going to have a massive leg up in the race. Denver and Las Vegas figure to be close in the standings, only ratcheting up the importance of their two meetings.

Game of the Week: Los Angeles Rams at Kansas City Chiefs
In 2018, we got one of the all-time games from these two teams. Fast forward to the present day, and very few notable players remain from those squads. Still, with the venue shifting to Arrowhead Stadium, we could get another classic.
Patrick Mahomes and Matthew Stafford are two of the sport’s top stars, and both have no shortage of targets. It’ll be thrilling to watch the Rams try to contain Travis Kelce, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman and others, while Kansas City has to contend with Cooper Kupp, Allen Robinson and Van Jefferson.
Quietly, the best matchup in this contest will be on the interior. The Chiefs have arguably the games best guards-center trio in Joe Thuney, Creed Humphrey and Trey Smith, and they’ll go against Aaron Donald. Whoever wins that battle could very well win the game in what may be a Super Bowl preview.
Both Los Angeles and Kansas City have brutal schedules this season, partly because they face one another’s divisions. Whoever wins will have a terrific, quality victory under their proverbial belt, putting themselves in good position as the playoff races heat up around the NFL.

Byes: Cardinals, Panthers
Game of the Week: Kansas City Chiefs at Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals went to the playoffs, reached the Super Bowl, and yet few consider them better than the Chiefs or Bills. This has to infuriate people in the Queen City, after watching their team handle Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City twice last season, including in the AFC Championship Game.
This is going to be billed as Mahomes against Joe Burrow, and rightfully so. Burrow and Mahomes are two of the best quarterbacks in the league, and should be a few of its main faces for the next decade. So far, Burrow has two wins in as many attempts against his rival, and another would only further the idea Burrow is among the elite.
For Kansas City, beating the Bengals in their building would be a message. The Chiefs were beaten in two squeakers, but in both cases fell apart in the second half after holding two-touchdown leads in the early going. Having revamped the defense with a bevy of rookies, it could either be a showcase for Burrow and his weaponry, or a coming out party for Kansas City’s young defenders trying to prove their help, and not harm, to Mahomes’ quest for a third Super Bowl appearance.

Game of the Week: Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos
No division is more intriguing than the AFC West. The four teams all have cases for why they should be considered the top squad, and nobody did more to improve themselves this offseason than the Broncos.
Denver went all-in on finding a real heir to Peyton Manning, finally settling on a blockbuster trade with Russell Wilson. Broncos general manager George Paton sent over two first- and second-round picks to the Seattle Seahawks, along with defensive tackle Shelby Harris, tight end Noah Fant and quarterback Drew Lock. It was a massive haul to give up, but Wilson makes Denver worth talking about again.
Yet none of it really feels important if Denver can’t break its epic losing streak to the Chiefs, which dates back to their rematch in 2015. Kansas City hasn’t lost to the Broncos since the Obama Administration, and certainly not when Patrick Mahomes has been at the controls. Now, with Tyrann Mathieu and Tyreek Hill gone, and Wilson in for Denver, can the tables finally turn?
The most sure-fire path to glory for the Broncos? Dethrone the Chiefs and win the West.

Game of the Week: Los Angeles Rams at Green Bay Packers
The Rams and Packers are two of the top three contenders in the NFC, and they clash under the lights in what could be a snowglobe of an evening.
Green Bay took down the Rams last year at Lambeau Field and the year before that in the NFC Divisional round. If the Packers are going to do it a third straight time, it begins with Aaron Rodgers finding some rhythm with a rookie receiver in Christian Watson and regaining some with the recovering tight end Robert Tonyan, who is coming off a torn ACL.
For the Rams, this is about making sure they prove to the league they can play in bad conditions. Last year, their run to the Super Bowl including two games in a dome and a road game in the sunny venue of Raymond James Stadium. If Los Angeles is going to be on the road come the postseason, Green Bay might be one of the road trips.

Monday Night Football
Game of the Week: Denver Broncos at Los Angeles Rams
A Christmas present for all of us. Russell Wilson returns to the NFC West to take on the defending champs in their own building, with only a few weeks until the postseason. For Los Angeles and Denver, it could either be a tune-up for the playoffs or a tilt both desperately need to either win the division or make it in at all.
Wilson has struggled against the Rams in recent years, being swept last year when playing with the Seahawks. However, he’s supported much better this time around, helped out by a terrific receiving corps and a defense which could be top-10 this year.
The Broncos are trying to be part of the national conversation for the first time since winning Super Bowl 50. With the addition of Wilson and new head coach Nathaniel Hackett, Denver has an opportunity to make noise in the AFC and in this instance, measure itself against the best the NFL has to offer.
For the Rams, it’s only a continuation of the league’s toughest schedule, as the champions go into 2022 facing one of the most-difficult dockets in recent memory.

Game of the Week: Buffalo Bills at Cincinnati Bengals
People are sleeping on the Bengals, despite Cincinnati going to the Super Bowl last year. After failing to win a playoff game for more than 30 years, the Bengals broke through but are still viewed by some as a second-rate contender in the AFC. This late in the season, the Bengals could make a huge statement against the Super Bowl favorites before entering the playoffs.
Cincinnati is going to compete in the AFC North alongside the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns for the division crown, and handling its home games will be a big step toward determining who ends up atop the gaggle.
For the Bengals, there are few games tougher than getting Buffalo at home. For the viewers, it’s a chance to watch Josh Allen and Joe Burrow lock horns for the their time in their NFL careers. Considering both the trajectories of the quarterbacks and their teams, this should be the inaugural of many in the coming decade.
The winner has an important tiebreaker in place, because these two teams could be among the top few in the AFC battling for home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Week 18
Sunday afternoon
Game of the Week: Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals
When is the last time this was considered a top game? Last year, the Bengals and Ravens gave us two blowouts, with Cincinnati hammering Baltimore in both tilts.
Assuming the Ravens don’t have the worst injury luck in the league, they should be much better and out for revenge. And incredibly, despite all the health issues for Baltimore, it only finished two games behind Cincinnati in the standings. The two games between the Bengals and Ravens this year could determine who wins the AFC North, and who ends up being one of the AFC’s three wild card teams.
If Baltimore is going to turn it around against Cincinnati, though, it starts with slowing down Joe Burrow. Last season, Burrow torched the Ravens in epic fashion, throwing for a combined 941 yards with seven touchdowns. With Marcus Peters and Marlon Humphrey both back on the corners, plus the addition of rookie safety Kyle Hamilton, it should be much tougher throwing the ball against that secondary.
The other question is what will Baltimore’s offense do against Cincinnati’s improved defense? The Ravens have tight end Mark Andrews but no other proven pass-catchers, and the offensive line has questions. A fascinating game on many levels.

AFC playoffs
This would be great theatre. The Chiefs and Broncos in the playoffs at Arrowhead Stadium. Russell Wilson and Patrick Mahomes. Denver is capable of winning, but Kansas City at home would be a brutal spot for any visitor, let alone one with such little postseason experience outside Wilson.
The Bengals are trying to win their second straight AFC crown, and the Chargers are a major threat. Last year, Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert had a shootout in the Queen City, game Herbert won. However, Cincinnati is a tad more complete, and with a revamped offensive line, a touch better than Los Angeles.
The Colts are hosting, but are they the better team or the product of a weak division? I’ll say more latter than former. Baltimore hasn’t won much in the playoffs since Super Bowl XLVII, but Lamar Jackson on turf is a major problem.
NFC playoffs
In Jameis Winston’s first playoff game, he’s good competition but no match for Matthew Stafford and Los Angeles’ high-octane offense. New Orleans is extremely talented and will give a tough fight, but the defending champs are up for the battle.
Tom Brady is always the right call against a quarterback without any postseason success. Philadelphia is significantly improved which is why it’ll make the postseason again despite not having a single quality win last year. However, against the Bucs, they’re overwhelmed once more.
Another rematch from last year’s NFC Wild Card round, but this time, a different result. Dallas needs to win or head coach Mike McCarthy is essentially on the next plane. While Trey Lance is intriguing, Dak Prescott is proven.i
Bye: Buffalo, Green Bay

Divisional round
AFC playoffs
A rematch in the same round of what we saw in 2020. The Ravens are going to Buffalo in what will surely be frigid conditions, hoping to take down a top-seeded, well-rested Bill team. Baltimore is equipped to slow down Josh Allen with a great secondary and a quality pass rush, but can the Ravens score?
If the Ravens are to pull the upset, Lamar Jackson needs to find ore than Mark Andrews downfield. It won’t be easy against a very good Buffalo defense.
Another recent rematch, this time of the AFC title game from January. Should this materialize, it would be the fourth matchup between Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes in the last two seasons. While Cincinnati has enjoyed Kansas City’s number, it’s hard to pick against the Chiefs here.
It’s foolish to think Burrow and Co. can’t win this game, but betting against Mahomes in his church is tough come January. Despite the loss to Cincinnati last year, he’s 7-2 at home in the playoffs, with both defeats coming in overtime.
NFC playoffs
The rating would for this game would be bonkers. America’s Team trying to potentially take down Aaron Rodgers for another postseason gaffe. Stars galore on both sides. Still, a tough spot for the Cowboys, who would be going against the NFC’s top seed, in its building, with Rodgers trying to win an elusive second Super Bowl ring.
If Dallas was going to win, it would happen because Rodgers doesn’t have the horses on the outside, and Prescott finds CeeDee Lamb often.
Another playoff rematch in the NFC, and the same result but in a different venue. This time, though, it’s in Los Angeles and the Rams are once again the more complete team. Los Angeles has a championship pedigree, a comparable quarterback and the bigger defensive stars in tackle Aaron Donald and corner Jalen Ramsey.
For Tom Brady, is this the final game of an all-time career. The Rams almost put him into retirement once. They actually do it here.

Championship Sunday
It’s time. The Bills have been improved steadily throughout Josh Allen’s career, but each of the last two years have been thwarted in the postseason by Kansas City. Now, with Buffalo having the top seed and the superior roster, it’s the moment Buffaloians have been waiting for.
While the Chiefs have an offense still capable of scoring at will even without Tyreek Hill, the Bills have one to match and a significantly better defense. Barring Kansas City’s rookie class being phenomenal as first-year players, the Chiefs don’t have enough pass rush or coverage skills to deal with Buffalo.
It’s the Bills to the Super Bowl.
The Packers finally make it back to the Super Bowl after 12 years. Each of the past two seasons, we have seen Green Bay fall apart at home in the playoffs, losing to the Buccaneers and 49ers. However, they handled the Rams in 2020, and they do it again here..
Los Angeles was able to play in ideal conditions throughout its postseason run last year, and does so again in this projection until traveling to Lambeau Field. Against the Packers in freezing weather, the Rams’ dream of a repeat dies.

Super Bowl LVII
The Bills against Aaron Rodgers. That won’t cause much angst for western New York.
Picking against Rodgers — should he get to this juncture — is insane. However, the Bills have a defense that can create pressure, cover on the back end and scheme to create a few turnovers. And, while Green Bay is an excellent team with a ton of postseason experience, the Bills are loaded on both sides of the ball as well.
Ultimately, Buffalo is the better team. The Bills have more talent across their positional groups with most of its stars in the prime of their careers. The Packers certainly aren’t short on stars, but the firepower is a concern with rookie receivers Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs having to find space against safeties Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde, along with corner Tre’Davious White.
If Buffalo doesn’t win the Super Bowl this year, the concerns will begin about whether we’ve seen the best of this iteration. The Bills have the coach, quarterback, weapons and defense to finally bring the Lombardi Trophy back to Buffalo. Time to make it happen.
