Rumors circulating of the Indianapolis Colts being in talks with wide receiver Julio Jones were debunked by a reporter.

The Indianapolis Colts watched as their division rivals, the Tennessee Titans, parted ways with top wide receivers Julio Jones and A.J. Brown this offseason. The difference is that Jones is currently a free agent, as Brown was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles and signed a multi-year contract extension.

On social media, rumors began circulating that the Colts were in talks with Jones. That rumor was quickly debunked by Colts reporter for The Athletic, Zak Keefer.

Julio Jones to the Colts rumors debunked

Jones spent the majority of his career with the Atlanta Falcons, where he solidified his status as one of the top wide receivers in the entire league. But recently, he has dealt with his fair share of injuries.

After the 2020 season, where he was limited to nine games, Jones was traded to the Titans along with a 2023 sixth-round pick in exchange for a 2022 second-rounder and a 2023 fourth-rounder. The move was lauded, especially since Jones would be pairing up with Brown in the passing game. But, Jones did not really produce, as he dealt with a hamstring injury that resulted in him hitting the injured reserve.

Jones recorded 31 receptions for 434 yards and one touchdown on 48 targets through 10 games. After the season, the Titans released Jones from his contract.

The 2022 NFL season is four months away, and it may be only a matter of time before Jones signs with a new team. But Keefer let Colts fans know that the team was not in talks with the veteran wide receiver.
