2) White Sox: Carlos Beltran deserves another shot to manage

Carlos Beltran has no link to the White Sox franchise. He played for several teams in his career but never for them. This wouldn’t be a deterrent in eventually hiring him as a manager. Also born in Puerto Rico like Espada but just 45, he brings a lot of the same good qualities as a manager.

Beltran remains one of the game’s most respected players even with his linkage to the 2017 Astros. The generation that grew up watching him is now active. Beltran was supposed to manage the 2020 New York Mets. Unfortunately, only a few weeks after he was hired by the team, the Astros sign-stealing scandal took over and he resigned from the job before ever getting to manage a single game.

His playing career ended in 2017 and he has already gotten a job working in the front office for the Yankees. He is also taking his shot at broadcasting some games, too. Beltran is basically following the same steps as Espada but in a different order and with a few added gigs.

The sign-stealing scandal shouldn’t prevent a team from hiring Beltran as a manager. A.J. Hinch is working with the Detroit Tigers and Alex Cora returned to the Boston Red Sox. Both of them served a suspension and Beltran basically did as well with his resignation from the Mets.

Even if Beltran would have a close eye on him to make sure there is no tomfoolery going on, the White Sox would benefit from him having a close eye on the game. Beltran has something to prove. The White Sox should consider him.
