Brian Cashman should look to turn these three New York Yankees trade rumors into a reality.

There should be plenty of upcoming New York Yankees trade rumors coming in the next several weeks as Brian Cashman looks to make the best team in baseball even better. Despite so much going their way, they remain a club in need of some upgrades.

Although Yankees trade rumors have been few at this point in the season, speculation has already begun about who they could acquire.

To get the best roster possible, Cashman and company should look to turn these three Yankees trade rumors into reality.

1. Yankees trade rumors to turn into reality: David Robertson

David Robertson has been excellent for the Chicago Cubs this year and will undoubtedly be on the move before the Aug. 2 trade deadline. Yankees fans know him well. The best seasons of his career took place as a setup man and closer for them.

Robertson showed how tough he is and how much desire is still there to play by the way he worked through injuries over recent seasons. He probably wouldn’t get many chances to finish games for the Yankees with Clay Holmes having so much success and the continued presence of Aroldis Chapman. That would be just fine. Robertson might be better equipped for the seventh or eighth inning anyway.

The Yankees and Cubs are no strangers to trade deadline deals. In 2016, Chapman was sent to the Cubs in exchange for Gleyber Torres and others. The ramifications of that deal still linger as it helped Chicago end their World Series drought while giving the Yankees a core piece of their infield.

A deal involving Robertson wouldn’t be quite as big of a blockbuster but it could benefit the Yankees greatly.
