The Chicago White Sox need to avoid Cincinnati Reds outfielder Tommy Pham for a two main reasons.

Overall, the White Sox need some help in the outfield as, offensively, they had a 93 wRC+ entering play on Wednesday, which was 19th in baseball. They have also had some injuries, including Adam Engel and Eloy Jimenez who are currently on the IL.

In theory, Pham would help them out. He entered Wednesday with a .245/.339/.412 with a 108 wRC+ and 1.2 fWAR.

However, the White Sox need a bit more power as their .381 slugging percentage is 10th in the American League. Pham would be a slight improvement but they need more of a power bat than him.

The second reason is that he has ruffled a lot of feathers, especially recently with slapping Joc Pederson after an argument about fantasy football. The White Sox already have a lot of strong personalities on the team. Pham also would likely clash with manager Tony La Russa. Pham could already have of a relationship with La Russa from their days in St. Louis but Pham was in the minors while La Russa was their manager.
