Barbasol Championship picks as we highlight the best bets for the opposite-field event on the PGA Tour this week as golf heads to Kentucky.

Most of the attention for golf fans will be on the Scottish Open this week but there is an opposite-field event happening stateside, Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, KY to be precise, with the Barbasol Championship adding another installment to its history. The event, which was won by Seamus Power last year, offers a number of players an opportunity to earn a solid payday and FedExCup points.

Obviously, there isn’t a ton of star power in the Barbasol Championship field with 17 of the Top 20 players in the world being in the United Kingdom already. With that said, that can offer the chance for bettors to take advantage of that and find some good value considering that the favorite, Christopher Gotterup, is at +2000 for the week.

So with that in mind, we’ve scoured the board and come with some Barbasol Championship picks and best bets for the week so you don’t ignore the opportunity to cash with the opposite-field event.

Barbasol Championship picks: 3 best bets for PGA Tour opposite-field event

Kelly Kraft to finish Top 20 (+200)

It’s been kind of quiet from a player who doesn’t garner much attention, but Kraft has been playing extremely well by his standards of late, reeling off a T13 at the RBC Canadian Open and then T24 at the John Deere Classic. He’s been extremely accurate with his driver, which should play well here, and finished T2 at the Barbasol in 2019. I love the number for a Top 20 for a player in good form with good history at Keene Trace.

Christopher Gotterup to finish Top 10 (+250)

As mentioned, Gotterup is the favorite this week, which speaks to how well the rookie has been playing. However, with this field and the odds for him to win, that offers great value for a Top 10 finish.

Gotterup has been striking the hell out of the ball, gaining 1.4 strokes per round from tee to green over his last 20 rounds. That’s what’s helped him go T43, T35 and T4 in the last three weeks. Based on recent form and upside, it’s hard to find anyone who presents the value that Gotterup does at the Barbasol, even making his first appearance at the event.

Josh Teater to finish Top 20 (+300)

We’re getting a bit risky with this one but I like the value on what could be an easily foreseeable result. Teater has been on the Korn Ferry Tour this year and, while he’s missed three of the last four cuts, the other three starts in his last six have been T27 or better with two of those being T11 or better. More importantly, Teater played this event in 2021 and 2019 and finished T15 and T6, respectively, in those showings. If he can do that again, it’ll easily cash a +300 ticket and that makes it well worth wagering on.
