Juan Soto trade rumors: Dark horse emerges, per MLB insider

The Juan Soto trade rumors just won’t stop. Now, there’s a surprising dark horse team that has entered the race for the amazingly talented Juan Soto.

MLB Insider JP Morosi has reported that you shouldn’t sleep on the San Francisco Giants acquiring Juan Soto. They are apparently making a very late push for him.

We had all thought the Giants were going to sell Carlos Rodon, Joc Pederson, and others at the deadline. Perhaps that might not be the case. The Giants aren’t far back from the Wild Card standings. There’s plenty of time for them to make a late push.

If they acquired Juan Soto, they would immediately jump into playoff contention with a bat that could launch endless home runs into McCovey Cove.

Could the Giants acquire Juan Soto?

The Giants have the prospects to trade for Juan Soto too. Their young left-handed pitcher Kyle Harrison is seen as a player with No.1 potential. Outfielder Luis Matos and SS Marco Luciano would be excellent prospects to include too.

Another big part of why they might be trying to acquire Soto, besides the obvious, is to sign him to an extension. The Giants aren’t scared of spending money. Perhaps they see trading for him being their best shot at signing him. This comes after their failed pursuit of Bryce Harper a few years ago.

It doesn’t hurt that this would prevent Soto from going to arch-rivals Dodgers and Padres as well. Either way, this dark horse team might just pull off a stunning MLB Trade Deadline trade. It would certainly cement this trade deadline as one of the absolute best in MLB history. It just depends on how desperate the Giants are.
