The New York Mets are reportedly promoting one of their biggest prospects to Triple-A in Syracuse.

The New York Mets are promoting prospect Brett Baty to Triple-A in Syracuse, as reported by MLB insider Andy Martino of SNY. Baty was the Mets first-round pick of the 2019 draft.

He’s moved up the ranks quickly. Last season, he started at High-A and was promoted to Double-A. He’ll now see another promotion into Triple-A, which will hopefully bring him to the majors soon.

The 22-year-old prospect undoubtedly has talent. He’s currently having his best season and is hitting .312/.406/.544 for an OPS of .950. He’s the best hitter for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies and leads the team in runs, hits, doubles, walks, batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and OPS.

Mets will also promote pitching prospect Jose Butto to Triple-A

Jose Butto joined the farm system in 2017 and hasn’t had as quick of a journey up the ranks as Baty. However, he’s reportedly going to be promoted to Triple-A alongside him.

Butto was a starting pitcher for Binghamton and isn’t having his best season, but has shown potential in the past. This season, he’s produced an ERA of 4.00, batting average against of .244 and WHIP of 1.31.

The two will play alongside Francisco Alvarez, another top prospect for New York. According to Rob Piersall with Fan Nation, “With both [Baty and Alvarez’s] trajectories, they could both be viable options to make the Mets Opening Day roster in 2023.”

New York is making big moves in the farm system, and their team will likely have continued success next season.
