17-year-old Raul Rosas, Jr. impresses on Dana White’s Contender Series.

This week of Dana White’s Contender Series was talked about for one fighter in particular. One of the season’s most talked-about fighters, 17-year-old bantamweight Raul Rosas, Jr. Rosas, is undefeated with all finishes going into this fight with Mando Gutierrez (7-1, six finishes, all submissions).

The first round started off with a flashy Rosas throwing combos and spinning back kicks before taking Gutierrez down to the mat. After hanging onto Gutierrez’s back and nearly finishing him with a Soluev stretch, Gutierrez reversed the position and finished the round on top.

The second round started with Rosas faking a knee and securing another takedown but wasn’t able to lock anything up as both fighters transitioned throughout the round. The third round started with a takedown by Gutierrez before Rosas ended up on top and landed some ground-and-pound. Rosas controlled the back for the rest of the round and scored the unanimous decision win. It was an impressive debut for the teenager and you have to wonder if he’ll receive a contract, developmental or not.
