DAZN released a three-part docuseries on Canelo Alvarez ahead of his trilogy bout with Gennadiy Golovkin on Saturday, Sept. 17.

Canelo Alvarez is arguably the most dynamic persona in boxing. His global appeal and popularity shine brighter than any active boxer, and DAZN is putting his career on display in their latest docuseries.

DAZN released its three-episode series called The Making of Canelo. It comes ahead of his trilogy bout with Gennadiy Golovkin on Saturday, Sept. 17.

You need a DAZN subscription to watch the series, which is nearly an hour and a half in length. The Making of Canelo takes you through Alvarez’s career from his 2013 contest against fellow legend Floyd Mayweather Jr., to his second bout with Golokin, ending on his round 11 KO win over Sergey Kovalev.

Alvarez reflects on these career highlights and discusses their impact on him. It’s a unique format for a documentary series, which “features the biggest names in sports reliving (literally watching on a giant screen while being filmed) and reflecting on the three biggest moments of their career,” according to a series press release.

Get insight from Alvarez on these three fights as he gets set to mix it up with his biggest nemesis, Golovkin, for the third time at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV.

Their first two matchups were highly competitive. Alvarez and Golovkin fought to a split draw in 2017 but secured a close majority decision victory over Golovkin in 2018. Golovkin feels he won both bouts, and there’s plenty of bad blood between the two.

Alvarez is coming off of a rare loss. Dmitry Bivol won a unanimous decision over Alvarez to hold onto his WBA light heavyweight title in May. Alvarez stated after the fight that he thought he had won the match.

Golovkin told FanSided that he was disappointed in Alvarez’s reaction to the loss, and the two have taken shots at each other in recent months.

Their third meeting is percolating, and The Making of Canelo should help add to your anticipation of their final meeting on DAZN pay-per-view.
