Atlanta Braves slugger Marcell Ozuna promises to be a better man in his latest Instagram story.

Since being arrested for a DUI on Friday morning, struggling Atlanta Braves player Marcell Ozuna has taken to Instagram, vowing to learn from the mistakes he has made over the last 15 months.

Ozuna had been benched by skipper Brian Snitker prior to his DUI arrest in Norcross on Friday morning. During Memorial Day Weekend 2021, he was arrested for his role in a domestic dispute in Sandy Springs, not long after he broke his hand sliding into third base up in Boston. All the while, he has struggled mightily since inking a fat, new contract with the Braves in February 2021.

The year prior, Ozuna led the National League in home runs and runs batted in, albeit during a 60-game, COVID-shortened season.

MLB insider Hector Gomez translated Ozuna’s latest Instagram story from early Tuesday morning.

"“Do not give up! What today is your test, tomorrow will be your testimony. Keep glorifying God. From now on, I will be a testimony of what I once was, with my mistakes I will learn. God will guide me until the last second of my life. God, in you I put my life”."

Gomez also translated a similar post from Ozuna’s Instagram account that went out Sunday night.

"“With strength I will rise from all this … Sometimes difficult situations come into your life, so you ask yourself: Why me? Me again? Only these things happen to me?. God gives you only one answer… Because I know you are strong”."

Ozuna may claim, and really want to be a changed man, but he is going to have to prove it with his actions, on and off the field going forward. You know, be a man of his word. That is all a man has…

Look. Who am I to judge a man for trying to have a deeper relationship with God? The Lord works in mysterious ways, often finding people at, near or scraping along at rock bottom. All I know is this. If Ozuna wants to be a better man and learn from his mistakes, that is entirely up to him. If not, then all the good work he is putting in on Instagram late at night is merely gibberish. That is it!

The worst part in all this is Ozuna blew it in Atlanta. He may find success across baseball, but it is probably not going to be in a Braves uniform. His teammates, the coaching staff and the front office may have forgiven him, but good luck to having all of Braves Country on his side going forward. The domestic dispute from two summers ago was awful, and the DUI only made it worse.

Ultimately, the Braves will either have to trade him this winter or release him and eat the rest of his albatross of a contract. Atlanta can afford to do so with a championship-caliber roster, a nationwide fanbase and the cash cow that is The Battery all working together. Ozuna may return to his former self at the plate, but he needs a change of scenery, as well as support off the field.

If Ozuna wants to prove he is learning from his mistakes, he needs to let his actions do the talking.
