St. Louis Cardinals veteran Albert Pujols just became even more respectable by selflessly giving a young fan the jersey off his back.

St. Louis Cardinals veteran Albert Pujols has done several good things throughout his MLB career, but giving a young fan the jersey off his back is by far one of the most respectable.

The fan held a sign that read, “Albert can we trade jerseys? Go Cardinals!”

Pujols made his wish come true, and the young boy appeared to be excited and in disbelief.

This is Pujols’ last season of his career, and he’s certainly making it a worthwhile one on and off the field.

St. Louis Cardinals veteran Albert Pujols wins over a new generation of fans

Pujols may not be as good now as he once was, but he’s still certainly achieving great success this season as he ends his career on a high note.

In addition to benefiting fans directly through giving away his own jersey, he’s leaving a lasting impact on the league that most players will likely never achieve.

He’s currently chasing the 700 home run milestone. If he hits just four more homers, he will pass Alex Rodriguez for third-most career home runs. He’s homered off of 449 different pitchers throughout his lengthy career, which ties with Barry Bonds for the all-time record. He’s hit 693 homers total.

Pujols also returned to St. Louis so he could retire in the city where his illustrious career began. He played the first 11 seasons of his career with the Cardinals and his next nine with the Los Angeles Angels. He began 2021 with the Angels and was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers for the rest of the season.

Now, he’s accomplishing so much with the franchise that took the first chance on him in the majors, and he’s winning over a new generation of Cards fans.
