Three things we learned from Dana White’s post-fight interview at the conclusion of the final DWCS event in 2020 from Las Vegas.
Dana White spoke to FanSided and other media members following the final episode in 2020 of Dana White’s Contender Series from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, NV.
White handed out four contracts to the night’s respective winners, which included JP Buys, Gloria de Paula, Tucker Lutz, and Victoria Leonardo. The other winner on the card, Nick Maximov, was offered a spot on the new season of TUF, as it is set to air on ESPN+ in the spring of 2021.

Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier 2 will not be for a belt
Though it has not been officially confirmed, Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier 2 is being targeted for Jan. 23. White delivered some clarity on the current status of the high-profile fight. He feels confident that it can become official, and hinted that it could take place on Fight Island.
When asked about if there would be a belt on the line, White immediately shot down the idea.
”Khabib [Nurmagomedov] is gonna fight,” White said. I believe he’s gonna. [McGregor- Poirier] is not for the title.”
He also confirmed it will take place in Abu Dhabi if all goes as planned.
Dana White’s hate for boxing promoter, Bob Arum, runs deep
It has been well-documented that White and long-time boxing promoter Bob Arum do not see eye-to-eye on various aspects of combat sports.
Arum has been under fire for recent comments that he made about Terrance Crawford’s pay structure. In typical White fashion, he let it fly.
”Could you imagine if I said that,” White said regarding Arum owing Crawford a certain about of money. “Are you kidding me? You guys would murder me if I said that. I’d never hear the end of that. That’s what you do. That’s not [Crawford’s expletive] problem, it’s your problem. His problem isn’t to figure out how you make money. You [expletive] signed a deal with this kid. Your job is to promote him.”
Dana White believes that any DWCS contract winner can become a world champion
With a win in the main event of UFC 255, Alex Perez could become the first DWCS alumni to claim UFC gold. White feels that regardless of the reasoning behind why the promotion decided to sign a prospect, he or she was brought in with a purpose, and the potential to win a belt.
“It’s not shocking [that Perez is fighting for a title]. I’m not surprised. The incredible wars and great fights that we’ve seen on this show, you know, over the last few seasons, it has been awesome. What I love about him going in the most and fighting for a title this weekend is that all of these kids that fought tonight, and all of the kids that fought on the Contender Series before, every one of you have the ability to do that.”
The fourth season marked a show-best 37 contract winners split across the summer and fall months.
