The New York Yankees’ collapse is so noteworthy, that even WWE commentator Michael Cole took a shot at them during the Clash at the Castle event.

In the first half of the 2022 season, the New York Yankees looked like unbeatable World Series contenders. Ever since they returned from the All-Star break, they have entered a downward spiral, and a once mighty lead in the AL East has dwindled down to five games over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Things are getting so bad for the Yankees, that they were even receiving shade from the WWE. Specifically, lead commentator Michael Cole at the in Cardiff, Wales on Sept. 3.

For those wondering the context of Cole’s comments about the Mysterio family, we’ve got you covered.

Legendary wrestler Rey Mysterio teamed up with “The Rated R Superstar” Edge to take on The Judgment Day (Finn Balor and Damian Priest). Dominik Mysterio, Rey’s son, was at ringside, as his father chose to team up with Edge at the event. Mysterio and Edge were victorious after hitting Balor with a 619 and spear combination.

After the match, Dominik stood in the ring, and out of nowhere kicked Edge below the belt. As Rey scolded him and questioned his actions, Dominik hit a vicious clothesline on his father.

Hence the “the Mysterio family is falling apart quicker than the New York Yankees comment” by Cole.

The Yankees have been downright disastrous, as they are 15-25 since they returned from the All-Star break, as of the morning of Sept. 3. Even though they are likely to make the postseason, a long run to the Fall Classic does not exactly look attainable based off of their play.

From a wrestling perspective, the Yankees desperately need to make a hot tag to turn things around.
