Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett exited the team’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to an apparent head injury.

The Pittsburgh Steelers entered Week 6 looking to bring an end to their four-game losing streak. They were off to a good start against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, as they held a 13-9 lead in the second half. However, there was concern over the status of quarterback Kenny Pickett.

Pickett threw a pass downfield, and he was hit by linebacker Devin White on a bang-bang play. As the rookie quarterback fell to the ground, it appeared that he hit the back of his head on the turf.

Following the play, Pickett was spotted on the sidelines getting medical attention. The Steelers brought in Mitch Trubisky to fill in. Pickett replaced Trubisky in the middle of the team’s Week 4 game against the New York Jets.

Prior to his exit, Pickett had just thrown his first touchdown pass of his career, a six-yard throw to running back Najee Harris. That gave the Steelers an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter.

Pickett completed 11-of-18 pass attempts for 67 yards and a touchdown against the Buccaneers.

Entering Week 6, Pickett had completed 67.7-percent of his passes for 447 yards, zero touchdowns, and four interceptions. Pickett also ran for 25 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries.
