NFL Twitter loved seeing Bailey Zappe come off the bench to ball out for the Patriots then sing along to “Stacey’s Mom” on the sideline.

Bailey Zappe wasn’t named the starting quarterback for the Patriots on Monday Night Football, but he stole the show anyways.

Zappe came into the game in the second quarter after Mac Jones threw an interception and proceeded to lead two touchdown drives.

After one of them, he sat on the bench and sang along to the Fountains of Wayne hit “Stacy’s Mom.”

And NFL Twitter absolutely loved it.

Zappe took over for Jones because of injury but he made the case for taking over the starting job with two wins in his two starts before Monday night.

Despite that, Bill Belichick named Jones the starter against the Bears. He appeared to regret that decision because it wasn’t long before he turned the ball over to Zappe.

Zappe’s initial contributions were outstanding. However, the second half was more difficult. The rookie fumbled away one possession and struggled to get the offense moving. Meanwhile, the Bears scored 23 unanswered points.

So it may not be cut and dry which way New England should go in terms of their starting quarterback. The team clearly has some things to figure out.

However, if they’re going to go on pure swag, it’s going to be hard for Jones to beat that video of Zappe singing a song on the bench after leading a touchdown drive.
