The Houston Astros no-hit the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 4 to even up the World Series.

In Game 3 of the World Series on Tuesday night, the Philadelphia Phillies held a Home Run Derby at Citizens Bank Park, hitting five off Houston Astros pitcher Lance McCullers. With the Phillies taking a 2-1 series lead following their 7-0 win, they looked to carry that momentum into Game 4 on Wednesday. The thing is, the opposite happened.

The Phillies were unable to record a single hit in Game 4, as the Astros picked up the 5-0 win. Christian Javier pitched six no-hit innings, striking out nine batters and issuing just two walks. After manager Dusty Baker pulled Javier after 98 pitches thrown, the bullpen of Bryan Abreu, Rafael Montero, and Ryan Pressly got the job done to record the second no-hitter in World Series history.

Twitter reacts to Astros no-hitting Phillies in Game 4

Twitter users reacted to the Astros throwing the first no-hitter since Don Larsen threw a perfect game for the New York Yankees in Game 5 of the 1956 World Series.

Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola had far from the smoothest start. That was evident in the fifth inning, where he surrendered three consecutive singles in his first three batters faced in the inning. Manager Rob Thomson decided to pull Nola in favor of his bullpen that didn’t surrender a single run in the first three games of the World Series.

Jose Alvarado entered in relief, but immediately surrendered a run by plunking Yordan Alvarez on his first pitch thrown. Then, Alvarado gave up a two-run double from third baseman Alex Bregman, a sacrifice fly by outfielder Kyle Tucker, and an RBI single by first baseman Yuli Gurriel.

Entering Game 4, the Phillies have not lost a game at home this entire postseason. It finally happened, in quite possibly the most painful way imaginable — a no-hitter.

With the series tied up, both teams will look to leave Philadelphia with a win on Thursday night before departing for Houston for Game 6.
