UFC 279: Khamzat Chimaev vs. Nate Diaz weigh-in results.
On Saturday, Sept. 10, live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, rising welterweight star Khamzat Chimaev will face Stockton legend Nate Diaz for the main event of UFC 279. UFC 279 will mark Diaz’s departure from the UFC, which he has been a staple in since winning The Ultimate Fighter 5 in 2007. Diaz (20-13) is coming in a massive underdog against the undefeated Chimaev (11-0) at +750.
The co-main event of UFC 279 also features another fan favorite, Tony Ferguson (25-7), who will face welterweight Li Jingliang (19-7). Though not as stark of a contrast as the main event, UFC veteran “El Cucuy” Ferguson is also a considerable underdog at +255. The former interim lightweight champ has lost four in a row and will move up a weight class to welterweight to face “The Leech” Jingliang.
Other interesting matchups to keep an eye on including a 180-pound catchweight bout in Kevin Holland vs. Daniel Rodriguez, women’s bantamweights Irene Aldana vs. Macy Chaisson, and light heavyweights Johnny Walker vs. Ion Cutelaba.
On Friday morning, fighters will weigh in after a highly hectic Thursday night that resulted in a press conference cancellation after a backstage brawl between multiple fighters and their camps.
