The Yellow Jackets took an early lead in Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate and Georgia fans had to be talked off the ledge with the Dawgs trailing.

Considering that the No. 1-ranked Georgia Bulldogs came into their Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate matchup against rival Georgia Tech as 36-point favorites, the rightful expectation was that the Dawgs were going to pour it on the Yellow Jackets and show no mercy. The start to the game, however, told a much different story.

The Jackets got the ball to start the game and marched down the field on an impressive 11-play, 75-yard drive to score and take a 7-0 lead. That was fine if UGA was going to respond but, out of the gate, they failed to do so. The Bulldogs punted on their first drive after a three-and-out and then had to settle for a field goal after forcing a punt on the next drive, causing them to still trail 7-3.

That was enough for some fans to get ready to pack it in for the rest of the season, even with Georgia well on its way to the College Football Playoff.

Georgia fans melt down after trailing early in Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate

Fans on UGA message boards were quick to meltdown at the first sign of trouble against the Yellow Jackets. One even made the wild claim that Tech looked more talented and better coached than the Dawgs.

As fate would have it, Georgia got their head right after the early deficit as their third drive resulted in a six-play, 80-yard drive for a touchdown to take the 10-7 lead and then earned then continued to stifle the Yellow Jackets offense thereafter as well leading up to halftime.

There have been some concerns against the likes of Kentucky for the Bulldogs as it looks like they’ve not been on-par with the national title-winning team of last year. Maybe they aren’t, but the Dawgs have also proved they can beat just about anyone with their B-game and everyone when they turn up the heat.
