The Dallas Cowboys received some great news in regard to one of their top players Tyron Smith dealing with injury.

The Dallas Cowboys are set to have a great week. On Sunday, they turned a 21-19 lead over the Indianapolis Colts entering the fourth quarter into a 54-19 victory in primetime. On Monday, the Cowboys are holding a free agent visit with wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. The good news kept coming this week.

According to various Cowboys reporters, the team is opening the 21-day practice window for left tackle Tyron Smith on Wednesday. Smith had been sidelined for the entirety of the season due to a torn hamstring.

Cowboys activating Tyron Smith’s practice window this week

This is obviously great news for a Cowboys offense that has been thriving as of late. Of course, the more depth on the offensive line, the better, especially with the playoffs approaching. This doesn’t necessarily mean that Smith is going to return to the field right away, hence the 21-day window. But, fans should be prepared for a Smith return in the near future.

Back in August, Smith went down with a non-contact injury during practice, which was later revealed to be a torn left hamstring. A timetable for a return was set for sometime in December.

With Smith sidelined, they pushed rookie Tyler Smith to left tackle, who has performed more than admirably during his time. They also signed former Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Jason Peters for depth.

During the Sunday Night Football game against the Colts, Smith moved over to left guard, while playing Peters at left tackle.

The Cowboys are looking to gain ground on the Eagles for first place in the NFC East, and getting their team back at full health could help them in the final stretch of the season.
