RB1: Cam Akers, Los Angeles Rams ($6,100)

What a year it has been for Cam Akers. Heading into the season, he was the presumed starter but was quickly benched in favor of Darrell Henderson Jr. Halfway through the season, it was looking like Akers’ time with the Rams was ending. He then came back to the team and has taken over the majority of the running back snaps.

Akers’ most recent performance against a good Denver run defense was impressive. His 23-118-3 game made him the number-one fantasy running back in Week 16. Akers has a much better matchup this week against the Los Angeles Chargers, and his elite play keeps him as a solid fantasy option.

RB2: Tyler Allgeier, Atlanta Falcons ($5,300)

After the Falcons’ Week 14 bye week, Tyler Allgeier has seemingly taken over lead-back duties for the team. Over the last two weeks, he’s out-touched Cordarrelle Patterson 40-24 and has out-gained him significantly. He’s had back-to-back top-15 finishes as well.

The usage for Allgeier is becoming starting-caliber in fantasy football, and he has an ideal matchup on tap as well in the Arizona Cardinals who allow the sixth-most fantasy points per game to running backs. Getting a red-hot starting running back for this price is a solid value.
