Alabama fans wanted everyone fired in massive overreaction to early Sugar Bowl deficit

Alabama Crimson Tide fans wanted the entire coaching staff fired after an early 10-0 deficit at the hands of Kansas State in the Sugar Bowl.

Alabama Crimson Tide fans expect excellence. That’s what happens when you root for a team in the middle (or tail end, depending on who you ask) of a dynasty.

A non-CFP appearance is a down season for Nick Saban and Bama. There’s no doubt about that. In what’s expected to be the final game for Will Anderson and Bryce Young, the Tide didn’t get off to an ideal start. An early field goal followed by a Deuce Vaughn 88-yard touchdown run led to complete chaos on the Alabama message boards.

In a not-so-shocking turn of events, Bama’s deficit didn’t last long, as they scored two straight touchdowns to take the lead early in the second quarter.

Are Alabama football fans spoiled?

It’s tough to call any fanbase spoiled. The Crimson Tide bring in so much 5-star talent in recruiting, as well as top players in the transfer portal, they’d be silly to expect anything BUT College Football Playoff appearances. While no team can win the National Championship every year, Alabama tested that theory as recently as a few years ago. Now, it’s their rival Georgia who has a chance at their second straight Natty.

Losing in the Sugar Bowl to a less talented Kansas State team would, rightly, be a very disappointing end to a season which began with such promise. The returns of Young and Anderson made Alabama the preseason No. 1 team in the country. They did not deliver.

Coaching changes will be made, either by force or because the likes of Bill O’Brien head elsewhere. Saban will pluck from his coaching tree for replacements, and all will be well in Tuscaloosa.
