Dylan Raiola committing to Georgia would leave Ohio State fans in absolute shambles.

After decommitting from Ohio State last month, 2024 five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola might be leaning toward Georgia now.

Steve Wiltfong of 247 Sports made a crystal ball prediction late Tuesday morning that the top overall prospect in 2024 will be committing to Georgia. It may only be a 6 out of 10 on the confidence scale, but Raiola may not be going to a Big Ten blue-blood after all. The other team to keep an eye on is Nebraska, as his father Dominic Raiola is a former Cornhuskers football star.

Georgia rarely gets a break like this on the recruiting trail. It would so shocking if Raiola goes there.

Dylan Raiola going to Georgia would make things even worse for Ohio State

While Georgia has a four-star quarterback committed to the Dawgs already in 2024 in Ryan Puglisi, keep in mind that the two-time defending national champions did not sign a quarterback in its 2023 class. This is because Kirby Smart and his staff put all of its eggs in the Arch Manning basket. Clearly, the newest Manning in college football would rather not be back playing for Texas.

Though Georgia has landed five-star quarterbacks before including Matthew Stafford, Jacob Eason and Justin Fields, the greatest quarterback to play for Smart is a former walk-on in The Mailman himself, Stetson Bennett IV. Bennett has exhausted all of his eligibility, so it will be up to Carson Beck, Brock Vandagriff and Gunner Stockton to battle it out during spring practice and fall camp.

Beck probably has the upper hand to start next year. Vandagriff is the local product from nearby Bogart and a former five-star himself. Whoever does not win the starting job out of camp will probably hit the transfer portal. As for Stockton, he retains all four years of eligibility. His climb to the top of the depth chart as a former four-star is not as improbable as Bennett’s rise to stardom.

Ultimately, blue-chip prospects like Raiola will always look at places where they think they can win a championship. Georgia and Ohio State are on a shortlist of schools where that is a realistic possibility pretty much every season. Unfortunately for Buckeyes fans, they feel massively disappointed this Tuesday, as they were only one point shy of playing for a national championship.

If Raiola were to commit to Georgia, that would be such a twist of the knife to start the new year.
